Halloween Treat Boxes...

Happy Halloween!

My favorite holiday of the year... even beats out my birthday.
So as the night is only hours away,I was preparing for my son Daniel's Halloween for his special education class.

He loves Holidays and he loves to share it and his culture with his classmates.
So we make treat boxes for his class for all our  holidays that we celebrate.
As an Sicilian and Irish family, we not only get the standard holidays but we get a few more that are not on everyone's calendar and this is the fun part for us.

So for my Littlest Leprechaun, I stood up till 2:30 this morning filling and adding the finishing touches to 22 Halloween treat boxes.

Before I forget, for my  little Leprechauns a All Hallow's Eve wish:

Happy Halloween... for my 3 little leprechauns:

In Gaelic:

Oíche Shamhna Shona, mo leipreacháin Little ... Féadfaidh sé an t bhiotáille tú déileálann agus aon cleasanna ... Bí sábháilte agus nach siúl sa ghleann ag an uair an chloig witching ...

and once more in Italian:

Halloween felice, stasera il morto ritorna di nuovo a casa. Esso Tutto è Santifichi Eve...

On to the treat boxes...

I used the following to make the boxes:
DCWV 12x12 cardstock
Halloween Cardstock from my stockpile
Pillow box template
Every kind of adhesive I owned
Orange ink from Rubber Stampede
Whale of a punch
Baker's Twine in Orange, Yellow and Brown
Happy Days - Happy Halloween stamp from Cardz Tv
Wrap It Up Cricut Cartridge

I loved making these for my Daniel.
I know he loves them too, and I am pretty sure his classmates will be excited.
These did take time, mostly because I had to find the right adhesive, as not all adhesive will stick to the glittered and foiled cardstock.
I will be using this shape for all the holidays this year. It fit everything nicely and was easy to make.

Now that our home is decorated, the cards are made, the treat boxes filled and the Halloween gifts are made and ready to be handed out to bus drivers, teachers, aids, nurses and all the people who care for my special little leprechauns, I am ready for the celebration to begin.

I hope you have a safe
and
Happy Halloween...

Happy Birthday Rae Card

My son asked me to make a card for his GF Rae.
He described what he wanted and this is the final card.

To make this card I used:
Light Grey Card stock
Dark Grey Card stock

Hot Off The Press Steampunk 12x12 Paper Pack

Gears and Cogs
Tim Holtz Key - Heart
Tim Holtz Clock Stamp
Perfect Pearls Mists in Blue Patina and Cappuccino
Stampin' Up - gears and cogs punch
Brown Ink

My son wanted a simple and uncluttered card.
I cut the light grey card stock and made a gate card.
Then I layered Blue Patina and Cappuccino over the entire card.
I inked the edges in Brown ink.
I then cut dark grey mats and then cut the paper to fit.

The inside of the card was made exactly as the outside.
I added a Tim Holtz key, that says Heart.
For Key to His Heart.

The back of the card.
I love to finish the back of the card with the same detail as the front and the inside.
I stamped Tim Holtz Clock and my Initial on the back.

Back of the card view.

I made the envelope to match the card with the same paper.
Front of card view.

Envelope and card open view.

Envelope with back of card view.

Back of Card with envelope.

To finish the card my son wrote his note inside and I addressed it.
I made a seal with the Stampin' Up punch and I added a few paper gears and cogs on the envelope.
It came out nicer than I hoped.
My son and his GF were both very happy with it.

I love steampunk and this was my first attempt at a birthday card with it.
This will  definitely be a standard for me.
I will be using this paper and theme for my year in my life mini book.

Hello Kitty Birthday Decorations

When it comes to birthdays, it is very easy to get carried away with buying decorations.
If you are like me, the last thing you want to do is to shop all around for them.
There are aisles and aisles of everything you need and so many more things you don't.
Besides the expense, the time and the driving, it can be overwhelming looking for just the right color, size or design.

So instead of shopping at multiple stores and driving all around town, I decided to make our own.
Why not, after all I used my Hello Kitty Cricut Cartridge to make the invitations
.
It was surprising simple once we made the decision to make them.
We had all the supplies, so it was just a matter of picking what we wanted, cutting, assembling and glittering.

We made it an afternoon project for my daughter and I.
It was fun, simple and full of glitter.

We made about 50 Hello Kitties in pink, red and black and we glittered them.

We made about 50  large cupcakes and we also glittered them.

We made 50 smaller glittered cupcakes.

Hello Kitty was glittered on her face, body and heart.

We used the Hello Kitty as decorations on the walls, the table, and the food table.
We decorated the walls and door all over the house.
We even decorated our front door with Hello Kitty.

Aside from using the cupcakes for decorations we made goodie bags and decorated them with glittered cupcakes.

This was very simple once we had everything cut, and then it was assembling, glittering, and cleaning up.
The best part was not only did we have decorations that fit the color and character we wanted but once the day was done we ended up with decorations that were ready to go for the scrapbook.

This year we will be doing the same, making our decorations but as for the theme that has yet to be determined.

Alice Party (Black) Invite...

I am trying out ideas for my daughter Justice's 18th Birthday.
It's in December, but I know all to well how fast that comes, so I need to start now.
We have done Hello Kitty every year for the last 5 years and this year we want something new.
So I figured I would try out a few ideas, and eventually I will hit a winner.

This is my Alice Party (Black) Invite.

To make this card I used:
Recollections Black Cardstock
Light Blue and Tan  Cardstock
Darice Bubbles Embossing Folder
Tim Holtz Frayed Burlap Distressed Ink
BIC Blue Skies Blue Marker
BIC Tuxedo Black Marker
From My Kitchen Cricut Cartridge
Alice Digi from Digi My World

you can find it on Etsy.com (that's where I bought it)
On Etsy:
or you can find it here:

My Card:
I used From My Kitchen to make the cake.

I used the BIC markers to color the embossed Bubbles.

I couldn't resist... I had to make Alice wobble with an Action Wobble...

Inside of Card. Clean and simple, but I like it.

 Cake on inside.

As cute as this Alice Invite - Card is... it didn't make the cut for her invitation.
It does however give me the another chance to try out another idea.
I think I will remake this card as a Birthday Card.

Hello Kitty Doll Comforters

When my daughter was 5, we were shopping at Ikea, and we bought her this adorable doll bed and comforter set.
She still has it and she is 17.
She has taken great care of the doll bed,  and the doll bunk bed my dad made her and the doll comforters on them.
After 12 years the comforters were looking old, so I decided to match her doll beds to her bed set, because her entire room is Anime, Hello Kitty and Pink.
I made Hello Kitty doll comforters for both her doll bed and her doll bunkbed, to match the pillows I made for her bed.
To make it, I just used the Ikea doll comforter.
I folded it in  half - length wise and used wax paper to create a pattern.
It was so simple and only took an afternoon.

Here are the comforters:
Hello Kitty comforter for doll bed.

This is the original Ikea comforter that I used as my pattern.

On the doll bed and bunkbed:

 Hello Kitty Easter Comforter

Hello Kitty Christmas Comforter

Hello Kitty Valentine Comforter

When my daughter was 5, she told my dad her babies could not fit on just one doll bed, so my dad being a carpenter he made her a doll bunk bed.

The Ikea doll bed.

This was my first attempt at making doll comforters.
After I saw how easy and cute they were, I made one for every bittie in our family, and they love them.

Monsters Aren't Just For Halloween...

It's October and Halloween is all I can think about.
I love Halloween, from the scary to the cute and everything in between.

What about the rest of the year???
Well, Monsters aren't just for Halloween.
They can be used to say Hi, or I am thinking of you.

Here are a few of the Monster Cards I made.
Not scary, actually pretty cute, because monsters can be used for everyday.

These are a few of the cards I will be sending to the Bitties.

A little Hello, and just to let them know Auntie is thinking of them.
What a better way, then with Monsters.
After all who said Monsters have to be scary.

Supplies Used:

Thanksgiving Cards for Surrey Place Care Center

This month of October has been all about Halloween, but today my daughter Justice and I set aside Halloween so we can participate in a great project.

We made 22 cards for I Feel The Love Project.
The project is for cards that will be given out in November, here is a brief summary from her page:

The I Feel the Love Project will be making Thanksgiving Cards during the month of October to be given to the residents of Surrey Place Care Center during November for Thanksgiving. We believe that delivering handcrafted cards at a major holiday such as Thanksgiving promotes the well being of the "mind, body, and spirit" of the residents at Surrey Place Care.

It' is such a good cause and all it takes is just a card.

If you would like to send one or a couple in you can find it here:

This was so much fun. It's a way my daughter and I can spend time together and craft.
Two things we both like to do, but the best part is, while we are having fun, we are also in a small way, doing something nice for some one else.
That is the best part.
